Smellless Eternity

The field of research in this project is mainly focused on ambiguity of real and artificial, living and dead. Cemetery flowers are meant to symbolize everlasting life. However, their appearance is deliberately banal, an exaggerated copy of real plants.

Mixed together with grass and fallen leaves, cemetery flowers blend with the natural environment and, by doing so, restore the extrinsic liveliness. At some point, it deceives our mind, it makes us take an imitation for reality and see life in death which is especially intense at the cemetery — the border of these two worlds.
